Coventry Climax 1216cc for sale
1957 Coventry Climax 1216cc engine to suit Lotus Elite/ Lotus Eleven/ Lotus Seven S1, etc, rebuilt by Jomar Restortations, New Hampshire in US, based on pump engine. The block has an early casting stamp of 6-12-1957, and is sought after by Eleven and Elite owners as a period block.
Engine has been fully rebuild and not run at all since. Engine number FW400-2 = 7434. The block was linebored for the new 3” sleeves from LA Sleeve, new forged pistons, piston rings and pins from JE Pistons (Huntington Beach, CA, USA), polished crank and magnafluxed rods with 9mm rod bolts, new rod and main bearings, 1mm SS baffle/stiffening plate, racing oil pump (used from Bill Hutton Engineering, US) with appropriate oil pickup, changes made to the oil gallery network to connect to fittings in the side of the block for the oil line inlet and outlet to the filter/cooler.
Head is an ex-race prepared head with generator bolt holes, brand new camshaft, jackshaft and timing chain and also includes modified 3 bearing to 5 bearing cam carrier conversion, std valves with competition springs.
Engine does not include distributor or filler cap stack but does have front pulley, mech fuel pump, water pump (appears to near new, or new), flywheel and new steel timing gear as spare if needed. There is a choice of 2 rear water housing (refer Img 7860 or 7861) depending on requirements.

2 . 1600 CVH prepared for Formula 4. I don`t know much about the engine, other than the head appears to be ported and it has a lightened flywheel. It was used in a Van Diemen in the early nineties, and if memory serves me correctly, acheived some good results i.e. 2nd/3rd`s, fastest lap? in class etc in the hands of Nigel Greensall. It hasn`t been run for a while, but still turns freely. It doesn`t have any carbs or clutch, but is dry sumped. I

Historic Parts are pleased to announce the availability of the brand new Kent Block. Ford Racing in America manufactures this block. This new block has an iron casting that is stronger than the original. With the current 711M blocks becoming more and more scarce here is an opportunity to acquire a spanking brand new block that is SCCA approved with all the dimensions matching that of the original. It is precision machined to the tightest tolerances including 75,000 psi nodular iron main caps. This block is available from “Historic Parts” for £1067 + vat.

TWO FVA BLOCKS - FOR MORE PICS CONTACT LEN
Both block heights measure 196 mm Bore sizes standard (85.6 mm).
The red block (not shown) has stepped liners fitted. The bores have light rust in some places, which may clean up with a hone. It also has resin visible where the water pump fits and behind the core plugs.
The other block (shown) has the original hard chrome bores - numbers 1, 2 and 3 look pretty good, whilst theres a bit of a ridge at the top of no.4. The head gasket face of this block has been rusty and is quite badly pitted around one cylinder (see photo), so this would either need refacing or building up somehow. Whilst cosmetically its the lesser of the two blocks its very original and un messed about.
